![]() How would you describe your design philosophy? My design philosophy is simple...design pieces that serve a purpose, make sure every element in a design is there for a reason, and above all, create something that is intriguing to the audience. Paul Rand sums it up beautifully when he says, “Design is the method of putting form and content together. Design, just as art, has multiple definitions; there is no single definition. Design can be art. Design can be aesthetics. Design is so simple, that's why it is so complicated”. If you weren't a designer what would you be? A Geologist. I took a geology class to satisfy a science requirement during my undergrad, and before I graduated I ended up taking 3 more geology classes. I loved classifying minerals and rocks, drawing topographical maps and taking field trips to rock quarries. What's the one thing ALWAYS in your bag that you never leave home without? There are three things... 1. Glasses 2. Chapstick 3. Cell Phone. If you could work for anyone, a client or on a project, what would it be? I would like to work with Paula Scher (I love her bold and simplistic style) at Pentagram. As far as the project goes, it would be my dream to design the identity/signage for a major New York event, maybe New York Fashion Week, now that would be awesome. What's the one thing you cannot live without? My family. Especially my husband, Ben. In one word, describe your biggest strength and weakness as a designer. Devotion. What are you reading right now? The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson (for pleasure), What is your favorite TV show? I'm into a few shows right now...Project Runway, Fringe, Big Love, and Dexter. My guilty pleasure? America's Next Top Model. What is your favorite movie? This is a tough one...I honestly can't choose just one! Here are a few I like: Almost Famous, Little Miss Sunshine, Love Actually, 500 Days of Summer and anything written by Charlie Kaufman. Name three songs on your iPod. 1. Radiohead Knives Out What are your current design goals? To learn more about web design, particularly CSS, and to work for a design firm that challenges and nurtures my creativity. |
